Midvale, Utah – The first solar panels placed on an Intermountain Healthcare facility are now operating and add to the effort being made by the health system’s energy management work. Some 168 panels were recently installed on Intermountain’s Supply Chain Center located in Midvale. An event at the location is scheduled for Friday, June 20, at 8:30 am.
This is just one part of a larger effort of Intermountain’s energy management and sustainability program. The panels will be under close evaluation to determine the viability of future expansion as well as evaluating utility management for Intermountain. It is anticipated that energy generated annually, will be about 60 kw, which is equal to a vehicle not using 4,617 gallons of gas.
Other energy initiatives happening at Intermountain include adding electric and natural gas vehicles to its fleet, adding no-idling technology to vehicles, and using a new water treatment system to save thousands of gallons of water.
