Give the gift of life when you're gone
Regardless of age or medical condition, anyone can be a potential organ and tissue donor after death. The priority for medical personnel is to save the lives of their patients. Organ and tissue donation is not discussed until every life-saving option is exhausted and death has been declared or is imminent. The doctors and nurses at the medical center are entirely separate from those who work for the organ and tissue recovery organizations.
In Utah, you may register to be a donor at yesutah.org. Although your registration is legal consent for donation, you should talk to your family about your wishes. This conversation will give them comfort and a positive direction should this become a reality.
