Fluoroscopy is an exam used for a variety of procedures to view internal organs. Some of the most common procedures done with fluoroscopy include upper gastrointestinal imaging, small bowel imaging, barium enemas, and to assist with the placement of stents, catheters, balloons and more.

Our intensive care unit provides specialized medical care to patients who may be in a potentially life-threatening condition. Each room is equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

Interventional Radiography is a minimally invasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. It uses X-rays with contrast to produce pictures of major blood vessels in the body. In catheter angiography, a thin tube, called a catheter, is inserted into a blood vessel through a small incision in the skin. A contrast material is then injected through the tube and images are captured using X-rays.

A mammogram is a procedure that uses low-doses of radiation to take an X-ray of the breasts to look for abnormalities. Utah Valley Regional Medical Center uses digital mammogram technology, which allows the X-ray images to be digitally processed rather than using the traditional film.

Most babies are born healthy, but if yours isn't, you can count on the Newborn Intensive Care team at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. We're a Level III NICU, meaning we care for infants of any gestational age. In addition to state-of the art care, we provide recently remodeled facilities and practice family-centered care, with the mission statement, "NICU is Home."

Three highly skilled neurosurgeons are on staff to oversee the hospital's successful neuro and spine surgery program. Utah Valley Regional Medical Center also operates a neuro/shock/trauma intensive care unit.

Nuclear medicine scans use a camera to take pictures of certain tissues in the body after a radioactive material accumulates in certain tissues. Patients undergoing nuclear medicine scans receive a safe dosage of radioactive material either orally or through an IV. The radiation dose serves to make tissues visible during the scanning pictures. The material soon leaves the body as waste. Nuclear medicine exam times are quite variable and some are lengthy depending on the type of exam you are having. You will be given information regarding the approximate time your exam will take when your exam is scheduled.

Timpview Pharmacy, Intermountain's retail pharmacy at Utah Valley Regional, sells over-the counter medications and fills any prescription, whether you're a patient at the hospital or not. The pharmacy is located on the second floor of the Physician's Plaza, which is on the East side of the hospital's campus. Tell your nurse to send your prescriptions to Timpview Pharmacy, and we'll have it filled for you before you leave the hospital.

The Rehabilitation Center at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center offers a wide spectrum of programs and services including 24-hour, on-site physician availability, physical therapy, radiology and laboratory facilities and medical specialists as needed. Prenatal education classes help expectant mothers and families prepare for their new child. We encourage mothers to take a prenatal class early in the second trimester of pregnancy. A variety of topics are covered during prenatal education, including financial planning, lamaze, breathing and relaxation, breastfeeding and sibling classes. Blood Glucose Testing

Blood Pressure Check

These checks are performed daily at any time, usually without a wait. However, emergency patients will be seen first. There is no charge. For more information, call (801) 357-7001.

Cholesterol Screening

Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create still or video images of soft tissue areas of the body. Warm acoustic gel is applied to the skin over the area to be viewed. A hand-held instrument called a "transducer" is then moved slowly across your skin generating an image that appears on the ultrasound monitor. Ultrasound procedures are generally painless and quick. Sometimes pressure is applied to the transducer to facilitate scanning. Ultrasounds usually take less than 30 minutes to complete.
