Financial Assistance for Patients

We recognize that when people need to come to us for care they are most likely experiencing something unfamiliar or frightening. At those times, added fear – specifically, fear of a medical bill - shouldn’t stop them from receiving the care they need. That's why part of Intermountain Healthcare's mission is to provide medically necessary and generally available healthcare to the communities we serve regardless of a patient's ability to pay. In 2007, Intermountain Healthcare provided more than $154,258,000 charity care, or free care to patients who can only partially pay or are unable to pay. That amount allowed 138,264 patients and their families to focus on healing and not an impossible financial burden. And it eliminated the need for taxpayers to shoulder these costs.

If you don't have insurance, or if you need help in paying for care, contact the Financial Assistance Helpline and ask to speak with an Eligibility Counselor about Intermountain's Financial Assistance Program:

Who qualifies for the Financial Assistance Program?

Some services offer a discount for the uninsured and financial assistance is available for qualifying patients. Provision can also be made for some patients who experience catastrophic healthcare events.

After patients provide information about household income, household size, expenses, and other personal circumstances, a cost of care compatible with the patient's ability to pay is determined.
