The Software Engineer works effectively across the entire software development life cycle. This includes requirements definition, prototyping, detailed design, coding, testing, deployment, and support of the day-to-day operation of production systems. The Software Engineer collaborates with technical staff, management, and business operations staff throughout all phases of the software development life cycle in order to deliver working solutions to complex business problems.
Design, develop, test, debug, and document programs and enhances existing programs.
Coordinates interface with user management regarding project status, direction and user needs to promote an environment of user cooperation and satisfaction.
Coordinates with the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software.
Identifies and resolves system operating problems in order to provide business continuity.
Contributes to the development of high level system architecture documents and detailed design specifications to serve as a guide for system/application development.
Provides estimates for work required to be completed based on user requirements.
Maintains basic understanding of industry application development best practices, tools, programming languages and techniques. Keeps current with new developments in the information technology industry and may contribute to the development and implementation of organizational and departmental standards and methodologies.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Is aware of a variety of software engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
Perform bug fixing, trouble shooting, and assist in user support
Meet with user in gathering requirements; assist Business Analyst to translate business requirements into technical requirements and communicate with both technical and non-technical team members
This position will work with confidential and proprietary information that requires a signed IT Employee Invention and Confidentiality Agreement upon hire.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, programming, or other technical field OR four or more years of technical experience. Intermountain Healthcare verifies both degree attainment and educational institution accreditation following an offer of employment.
Three or more years of professional software development experience
Adept at researching, learning, and adopting software development best practices and emerging technologies and methods
Understanding of software development process, including object oriented analysis, design, and implementation
Experience with Sitecore, Microsoft SharePoint, or other .NET web content management systems
Two or more years of experience with C#
Experience with webservices and webservice clients in C# / .NET
Three or more years of experience developing consumer-oriented web sites and services
Must be analytical, adept to problem solving, and have a strong attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and excels at relating to diverse types of people from business areas, Communications/Marketing, and IT
Experience implementing and configuring search
Experience implementing web analytics
Experience with mobile website development and applications
Experience with relational databases
Experience in a healthcare environment
Must be comfortable working autonomously as well as in a team environment
Self-starter, willing to get involved and do whatever is needed to get the job done
