Senior Oracle / SQL Server Database Administrator
Job Number 145814
Intermountain Healthcare is a looking for a self-motivated, highly skilled Database Administrator. This position initially will be 80% Oracle and 20% SQLServer, but will adjust over time. It requires someone who is a ‘Senior’ level oracle DBA and at least a mid-level SQLServer DBA. (An expert at both would be the best candidate!) This position would be the link between the application and business team and the DB engines. As this DBA you will need to:
Understand that a database is a system – It’s not just about keeping the DB up, when planning changes you need to keep in mind interconnected dependencies on loading jobs, extraction and transformations.
Scripting! If you are asked to do a similar task 2 or 3 times, can you script the process so in the future it is easier? Are you an automation engineer?
Continual learning - Can take on new technology and become an expert in a short amount of time regardless if it's part of your knowledge base or not?
Understand the inner core of Oracle. Be familiar with SQL Server’s internals.
Document for action, not just to fill up paper. Every business needs each engineer to not only document what they do and how they do it. A great workplace is filled with engineers that also document the ‘why’.
Do you seek to be an agent of change to constantly improve and make things better?
When you have something to say that goes against popular opinion can you present your ideas in a way that influences others so that they share your passion?
If this sounds like you than we want to talk to you! As an Intermountain Healthcare employee you will have the opportunity to work for a world renowned non-profit organization who's emphasis is on providing the best possible patient care at the lowest cost. Your skills and knowledge will be used to help maintain and design systems that will reduce costs and improve medical care for patients within the Intermountain Healthcare system. You will also be a part of quality improvement projects that reduce costs and improve quality by looking at how individuals complete day to day tasks and how entire departments integrate with each other.
