Assists in the development of technology assessments and necessary documentation to develop evidence based reimbursement policies. Supports benefit design offerings and policy exclusions for the certificate of coverage. Provides direct support to the organization’s overarching goal of providing coverage / benefits for medical interventions with proven benefits to its members and reasonable cost effectiveness to its payer groups.
Supports the Medical-Tech Committee Chair in the timely completion of technology assessments for the periodic technology assessment committee meetings. Provides solutions to the defined questions and/or resolves the issue(s) in a timely manner.
Performs specific internet research to complete assigned portions of the technology assessment reports and other supportive documents. This research may include identification of specialty society positions, identification of regulatory findings specific to technologies, identification of coding specific technology, and assists in determining costs related to new and existing policies.
Assists in identifying operational issues related to technology assessment decisions and in the implementation of solutions.
Assists in the formatting and completion of technology assessment and summary documents.
Maintains certain technology assessment libraries and sections of the SelectHealth web site.
Responsible for communicating outcomes of technology assessments to other interested and appropriate departments.
Assists in timely accurate completion of internal documentation related to technology assessments.
Researches and updates records of all M-Tech decisions and activity, including satisfaction of additional requirements (eg, NCQA). Provides expertise in NCQA compliance for new technology evaluations. Coordinates communication of policy decisions to variety of providers. Maintains M-Tech web page reflecting policy decisions.
Conducts and coordinates secondary research and applies the principles of evidence-based medicine to the international body of biomedical literature. The primary focus of this research is new or emerging health care interventions / technologies (procedures, devices, “biologics”), but may also include established technologies. The evidence is then summarized and presented to the Technology Assessment (M-Tech) Committee for recommendation to business groups.
Bachelor’s degree in a clinical science (e.g nursing, medical technology), or health related field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Three years clinical experience (within the past seven years) with experience working as part of a project team.
Two years clinical coding experience or certification as a professional clinical coder
Demonstrated intermediate skills with spreadsheets and word processing.
Demonstrated intermediate skills in internet database searches.
Manual dexterity, hearing, speaking, seeing.
Advanced degree in clinical or health related science.
Certified as a professional coder withal settings.
Experience in multiple clinical settings
