This position provides Management Engineering support to all areas, and at all levels within SelectHealth. Management Engineering support generally consists of industrial engineering activities including identifying resource utilization improvements, process and workflow improvement, providing project management support, facilitating improvement activities, providing analysis for decision-making, and providing management consultation. This person will have many opportunities to manage process improvement initiatives to ensure the appropriate use of staff, equipment, supplies, space and capital.
Process Improvement - Ability to develop and implement Lean Enterprise practices through training, development, and project activities throughout a large business organization. Identify, analyze, recommend, and propose process improvement initiatives to senior leadership. Use standardized approaches for identifying, and implementing process improvements. Able to develop succinct approaches for analyzing the effectiveness of key processes. Must have excellent and well-practiced facilitation skills. Must be able to lead identified process improvement initiatives from project inception to long term sustainment. Should have experience leading Rapid Process Improvement Workshops (RPIW) or Kaizen Events. Critical thinking ability.
Methods and Analysis - Lead improvement initiatives using effective methodology, LSS (Lean Six Sigma) tools, leadership, communication, and technical skills. Lead teams to improve the effectiveness of business processes and value streams. Guide front line staff to assess process strengths and weaknesses utilizing appropriate LSS analysis techniques, which may include pre work interviews, data collection, benchmarking of best practices across the enterprise; and external research to determine optimal techniques for improving effectiveness and efficiency of business operations. Must be able to collect, aggregate, and analyze data to design appropriate graphic representations of relevant metrics.
Communication - Demonstrate excellent communications skills. Develop, and present written communication in a clear, concise, and easily understandable format to management and stakeholders. Compose, and deliver oral presentations that are organized and rigorously prepared, with an effective delivery method to all levels of the organization
Problem Solving - Demonstrate keen problem identification, solving, resolution, and solution sustainment skills. Ability to identify, and utilize cause and affect metrics.
Teamwork - Foster teamwork, healthy morale, and promote an orderly flow of information within the organization. Work to establish a culture of process improvement throughout SelectHealth, and serve as a catalyst for positive change.
Education, Training, and Development – Assist in providing education and training for the organization on Lean Enterprise development, process improvement, and change management, which leads to management and organizational development within the enterprise. Mentor, and provide education to stakeholders to promote management engineering and lean principles.

Project Management - Conceptualize projects with management and staff, and demonstrate appropriate project management skills based on the size and scope of each project. Develop appropriate goals and objectives for each project. Develop a work plan for each project, including the identification of major milestones and a project time-line. Perform specific risk assessment as the basis for project task prioritization and project planning. Management Engineers usually work on multiple projects; therefore they must prioritize the work to keep projects moving toward the identified goal and completion date.
Productivity Monitoring Systems - Assist in determining appropriate methods for maintaining integrity of measurement values and statistics used in value streams, processes, reports, productivity reporting systems, and dashboards.
Personal Development - Self-development should include attendance at appropriate seminars, workshops, and conferences. The Management Engineer position may participate in the local chapter of a professional society, may participate in the training of new or less experienced management engineers, and may actively participate in recruitment and retention initiatives.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Health Systems, Management Engineering, or related field. Intermountain Healthcare verifies both degree attainment and educational institution accreditation following an offer of employment.
One or more years of experience in a performance improvement role in a complex organization utilizing Lean and Six Sigma process improvement methodologies
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
Experience analyzing preparing, and presenting highly complex statistical data analyses
Displays leadership traits that build credibility, and inspire the cooperation and confidence of others
Strategic thinking, and effective negotiation skills
Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize work
Ability to work with minimal supervision. Shows concern for quality work
Shows initiative, and maximizes individual resources and energies
Ability to function as a business partner with managers
Excellent interpersonal relations skills
Excellent written, and verbal communication skills
Hearing/listening, manual dexterity, seeing, speaking
Master's degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Health Systems or Management Engineering
Three or more years of LSS project experience
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
Experience utilizing Microsoft Project
Organizational train the trainer experience
Health care or health insurance experience
Experience querying data utilizing various analytical tools
Experience leading Lean projects in an administrative environment
