Short-Term Disability Insurance
The employee Short-Term Disability (STDI) Plan is insurance to protect your income when you are away from work due to a serious illness or off-the-job injury for more than one week but not longer than three months. The plan provides a 60% income replacement benefit, with a maximum weekly benefit of $2,000 per week. Premiums for this plan are paid for full-time employees by Intermountain. You may select between two STDI options: taxable premium or taxable benefit. The taxable premium option will allow the plan to provide a non-taxable benefit to you, and the premiums paid for you by Intermountain will be added to your gross earnings as an additional taxable income. If you choose the taxable benefit, the premium Intermountain pays for you will not be taxed, but any benefit you receive from the plan will be subject to Federal, State and FICA taxes. Part-time employees may enroll in a different STDI plan on a self-pay basis.
Provides a tax-free income replacement benefit throughout the period of disability up to age 65. There are two levels of coverage available: 50% income replacement or 60% income replacement.
Through the period of disability, employees also have the continuation of Intermountain Optional and Dependent life insurance benefits at no cost, and continuation of credit toward the Intermountain Pension Plan.
