Murray, UT (3/9/2009) – TOSH–The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital is offering free health screenings, tours of its new inpatient unit and seminars on a variety of orthopedic topics at a community health fair from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 21.

Seminars and demonstrations will focus on treatment strategies for arthritis and joint pain, hand disorders, back and spine pain care, and sports medicine therapies. Seminars will be held each hour beginning at 8 am in the TOSH auditorium.

The health fair will also offer a behind-the-scenes look at TOSH's state-of-the-art orthopedic operating rooms, as well as interactive running and soccer clinics, nutrition counseling, and tours of TOSH's physical therapy and sports medicine programs — and the benefits they provide to patients and athletes.

Free screenings include blood pressure and oxygen testing and access to leading spine experts, hand and elbow specialists, and knee and ankle surgeons. TOSH sports medicine experts will perform interactive demonstrations using TOSH's motion analysis system that is designed to improve golf swings and baseball and softball pitching and hitting.

TOSH's athletes' kitchen will be open to help participants learn about healthy cooking and making good choices when grocery shopping or eating out. TOSH’s nutrition experts will hold classes on healthy eating and pass out healthy goodies and recipes for healthy cooking options.

Physical therapists will answer questions about rehab and aquatic therapy and experts from TOSH’s Sports Performance Acceleration Program will demonstrate training and performance strategies for athletes and those in training.

A Life Flight helicopter will be on display, along with a number of other emergency vehicles. Utah Jazz player Paul Millsap will also be on hand to sign autographs and a drawing will be held for two tickets to an upcoming Utah Jazz game.
