Heber Valley Medical Center has received the 2010 HealthInsight Quality Award for demonstrating excellence in performance on publicly reported quality care measures.
“Working toward receiving this award always is the right thing to do,” mentions Sherri Eiting, Quality Manager at Heber Valley Medical Center. “This award and the steps it takes us to earn this award ensure we are doing everything possible to provide the best clinical patient care.”
It’s a team effort, continues Sherri. “We would look at our processes in a workgroup. We’d establish what the end result had to be and then we would look backwards at every department and see what we had to implement to obtain that end goal.”
The HealthInsight Quality Award recognizes hospitals demonstrating high quality health care and excellence in performance. These measures come from data that is reported by hospitals across the nation. The award acknowledges hospitals that are actively engaged in advancing care in one or more of the following areas.
The demanding set of processes we’ve put in place ranks Heber Valley Medical Center us in the top 25% in the nation in all 4 core measures. These areas have been designated as national healthcare priorities by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS):
• Heart Attack
• Heart Failure
• Surgical Infection Prevention
“We used proven, evidence-based practices to assure that consistent medical care for all patients was carried out,” said Sherri. “Our combined efforts produce successful outcomes in patient care.”
“We are proud of the quality improvement initiatives being carried out here at Heber Valley Medical Center. We realize the direct benefits as patient health improves,” said Ezra Segura, Administrator at Heber.
During the Utah Hospital and Health Systems annual meeting, HealthInsight’s President and CEO, Marc Bennett, honored Heber Valley Medical Center for its commitment to providing the best quality care to its patients.
“HealthInsight commends Heber Valley Medical Center for its commitment to excellence in improving patient care,” said Marc Bennett. “This is a significant achievement.”
“The staff and physicians at Heber Valley Medical Center are dedicated to providing the very best in patient care,” said Ezra. “This award is a direct tribute to their efforts.”
