SALT LAKE CITY, UT (7/13/2011) – Jim Sheets has been named the new administrator of Intermountain Healthcare's LDS Hospital.

Sheets is the 14th administrator in the history of LDS Hospital since it opened in 1905. Sheets joined Intermountain in June 2007 as operations officer at LDS Hospital, and during the last four years has been a key member of the hospital’s leadership team.

Sheets replaces Mikelle Moore, who joined Intermountain Healthcare’s leadership team 13 years ago and served as LDS Hospital’s administrator since 2004. She was appointed in May as vice president of Intermountain’s Community Benefit Department, which offers healthcare services to low-income and underserved people within Intermountain’s service area and partners with other organizations that serve these populations.

“I’m delighted with the continuity Jim gives us in his new role and his history of strong relationships with our medical staff, our employees, and the community,” says Larry Hancock, chief executive officer of the Intermountain Healthcare's Urban Central Region hospitals. “I also appreciate the excellent strategic insights Jim brings to the job.”

"I’m very excited to lead a great team of managers and employees at LDS Hospital," says Sheets. "My focus will be on building and maintaining our brand — care as individual as each patient — and on strengthening relationships with the staff, physicians, patients, and the community. I look forward to maintaining our excellent standards of patient care and helping LDS Hospital continue to be a wonderful resource for the community."

Before he joined Intermountain, Sheets served as vice president of professional services at Enloe Medical Center in California, and before that was director of operations and director of business development at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Arizona. He started his career as an administrative fellow at Catholic Healthcare West in California.

Sheets holds a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Utah and master’s degrees in business administration and healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota. He’s a native of Utah, lives in Holladay, and is married with five children.

“Jim has a wonderful understanding of our patients and of our team, and his background in healthcare and excellent people skills make him very effective in meeting our challenges today and in the future,” says Hancock. “We’re thrilled to have him in this new role.”
