SelectHealth offers health coverage through a variety of plans for businesses and individuals (including federal employees and those eligible for Medicare and Medicaid). Plans are available to people in Utah and Idaho; in 2012, SelectHealth announced an alliance with Boise-based St. Luke’s Health System, extending coverage to residents throughout Idaho.
But SelectHealth provides more than health insurance: It also offers a wide range of resources to help plan members live healthier lives. These include prevention programs, care management services for members with chronic conditions such as diabetes, and community outreach efforts aimed at improving health.
One example is STEP Express®, a free program to help fourth graders and their parents work toward healthier lifestyles through lesson plans, physical activities, and an eight-week fitness challenge. More than 100 schools participated in 2012, and more than 20,000 students have completed the program since it was created by SelectHealth in 2008. Details are available at StepExpress.org. STEP Express complements Intermountain’s LiVe Well programs.
