Who Are the Healers?
Healers are those who reach out—those doctors, nurses, and other clinical professionals who work every day to provide the best care for patients, with clinical excellence, compassion, and understanding.
Yet healers aren’t only those who close wounds or deliver babies. At Intermountain Healthcare, we believe all our employees contribute to the healing process, whether they interact directly with patients or support those who do. Everyone is essential.
In this year’s Annual Report, we celebrate our employees. A few tell their stories here, sharing how they are healers and why that’s important to them.
There were other stories from 2008 as well. Among the most important was the transition in our senior leadership team. Bill Nelson retired as Intermountain’s president and CEO after 33 years of service. We note the enormous contributions he made to Intermountain and to healthcare in our region. He leaves a legacy of clinical excellence, modern facilities, lower rates, and numerous other community benefits.
Another development last year was the great progress achieved in our eight clinical programs and other areas of clinical quality. We attained or exceeded all our clinical quality goals, resulting in better care and outcomes for our patients.
These achievements are a credit to the dedication and expertise of our employees. They have performed exceptionally well even in the face of the severe economic challenges that are affecting Intermountain and most organizations. Thanks to their efforts, Intermountain remains a highly effective organization. We will continue our healing mission of providing excellent care to our patients and service to our communities.
