I see what I do as the first step toward helping people who need emergency care. These aircraft need to be ready 24/7/365.
Pilots need to know they’re flying a safe machine. When someone comes in after being picked up by Life Flight, that’s when I am reminded how important my job is and why it’s worth it to work such long hours.
I’ve personally seen babies come in who are no more than three or four pounds, and it’s always nice to know that I play a role in helping them and others get the help they need.
