SelectHealth is more than an insurance plan. It’s a resource for healthy living.
SelectHealth takes an active role in improving the communities we serve. In addition to helping our members get fit and stay healthy, we are involved in public initiatives throughout Utah that promote health improvement, education, or economic development.
Here are three of the programs SelectHealth operates or sponsors in support of the community:
In 2011, SelectHealth recognized 25 Utah nonprofit organizations that work to improve the health and wellness of those around them. Award recipients each received $2,500 to help further their missions. Recipients included a nutrition program for seniors, a preschool for autistic children, and an organization that trains shelter dogs to assist veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. The complete list of recipients is available at select25.org.
SelectHealth created this free program to help fourth graders and their parents work toward healthier lifestyles through lesson plans, physical activities, and an eight-week fitness challenge. More than 100 schools participated in 2011, and more than 20,000 students have completed the program since it was introduced in 2008. Details are available at stepexpress.org . Step Express complements Intermountain’s LiVe program, which is aimed at young adolescents.
SelectHealth is proud to support Horizon Elementary in Murray. In addition to serving as volunteer tutors and Junior Achievement teachers, our employees donated more than 100 backpacks and $800 to students in need. SelectHealth also contributed $3,000 to help the school purchase an outdoor electronic marquee.
Along with health, dental, and vision insurance plans, SelectHealth
offers a number of resources to help members prevent avoidable
health problems and manage existing chronic conditions.
