Intermountain Homecare Finds a New Home

Intermountain Homecare Finds a New Home

    HC

The event was held on a warm and windy morning on July 10, 2013, with approximately 70 people in attendance.

The new facility, which will be located at 11520 Redwood Road, in South Jordan, to better serve areas of growing population in the Salt lake Valley, will be 143,000 total square feet. It is uniquely designed with an open office environment to foster communication and increase production. It will also feature amenities designed to increase employee satisfaction, including an exercise room and a “grab and go” kitchen. Warehouse space and a wheelchair shop, specifically designed for Homecare’s needs, and to better facilitate patient service will be included on the site.

“This facility deepens our commitment to serve those in need in every way possible,” said Laura Kaiser, Executive Vice President for Intermountain Healthcare, “and will be a jewel within Intermountain Healthcare.”
The event, punctuated by the sounds of gusting wind and construction already in progress, featured many acknowledgments and thanks to Intermountain, South Jordan city officials, and others in attendance. Ultimately, however, according to JoAnn Bott, an attorney with Manning, Curtis, Bradshaw, & Bednar, and the Chair of Homecare’s advisory board, “this day truly belongs to the employees of Intermountain Healthcare. They deserve this new facility.”
Other speakers included Jan Goodrich, AVP and Administrator for Homecare, who highlighted Homecare’s role in the past, and the importance Homecare will play in the future of healthcare, particularly “as our nation continues to focus on how best to provide the highest levels of care, at the lowest appropriate cost, which is the big challenge of our day.”

South Jordan Mayor, Scott Osborne, offered a warm welcome to South Jordan, and highlighted the importance of having quality organizations like Intermountain in their city, saying: “this is a beautiful facility that will be welcomed in our community.”

After additional closing remarks from Larry Hancock, the ceremonial groundbreakers, including the speakers, and representatives of Okland construction and MHTN Architects, donned hardhats and gold shovels to overturn the ceremonial ground. Afterwards guests were invited to stay for refreshments and social interaction. When the crowd dispersed, construction continued on the new facility, which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2014.
