Not only is Intermountain involved in over 1,400 open research studies with potential to improve the health outcomes of millions of patients, but the research work itself benefits from outstanding leadership.

To drive home that point, the Society of Research Administrators (SRA) International awarded Amy Sikalis, Director of Intermountain’s Office of Research, a special recognition for her work as a leader in research administration at their annual conference in New Orleans the week of October 28, 2013.

Named in honor of the Society’s first two presidents, Ken Hartford and Richard Nicholsen, the Hartford-Nicholsen Award recognizes SRA International members who have contributed their professional expertise and volunteered services over the years which have benefited the entire Society.

SRA International’s website says of Amy, “A member of SRA since 1994, Amy’s dedication and commitment is clear in the many ways she has served the Society. She was elected by her peers to serve as a member-at-large of the SRA Board of Directors and also served a term as President of the Western Section. She also co-chaired the 2009 SRA International Annual Meeting in Montreal and has served on numerous planning committees for both annual and section meetings. She has been active on many SRA committees and is currently a member of the Awards committee. Her service has been exemplary throughout. SRA International acknowledges individuals who inspire others and serve as a model for the profession of research administration.”

In addition, SRA International awarded Amy with Distinguished Faculty designation for the Society. Congratulations, Amy!

    About SRA International:

SRA International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1967 and headquartered in Falls Church, VA. The society has over 4,000 members who work in research administration at hospitals, universities, nonprofits and at the federal government. Most of the membership is U.S. based research administrators; however, approximately 5 percent of the members are from abroad. The society holds one annual conference for research administrators each year. Two regional section meetings are also offered, along with approximately a dozen chapter meetings. SRA is governed by a Board of Directors, whose 10 members are elected by the membership.
