Established in 1982 by Intermountain Healthcare, the Foundation began as the Intermountain Healthcare Foundation with the purpose of benefiting community agencies and organizations with funding for healthcare related projects.

The endowment of the Foundation was established by Intermountain Healthcare. The fiduciary and investment responsibilities of managing the funds are overseen by the Investment Committee of the Intermountain Healthcare Board of Trustees and the Investment Vice President of Intermountain Healthcare.
