Musical Guest: Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand
Back by popular demand, RubberBand is a perfect name for Ryan Shupe and his band of amazing musicians. The group is known for its ability to stretch out musically in all directions, pinging back and forth with a joyful spontaneity most bands could barely imagine, let alone achieve. Each member possesses years of experience on his respective instrument . . . their collective talent is explosive and undeniable.
The five man band, hailing from the Salt Lake City, Utah, is a breath of fresh air in an age where much of the music is over-produced, “practically to death,” and their organic approach to performing has built them quite a following, not only through the West but around the rest of the country as well. Lead singer Ryan Shupe originally formed the band as an outlet for his songwriting but it soon took on a life all its own, becoming bigger than anything he could have originally imagined.
Chocolate Extravaganza Legacy
Star Quayle organized the first Chocolate Extravaganza in 2004 to remember what would have been her daughter Anna’s first birthday. At 20 weeks, Anna Marie was diagnosed with anencephaly, an open neural tube defect that results in the deterioration of the brain. Star and her family enjoyed 11 unforgettable hours with Anna Marie. Star said she will never forget the time she was able to spend with her daughter nor will she forget the way she and her family were treated by the hospital, nurses and her doctor. Since that first celebration in 2004, the Chocolate Extravaganza has grown tremendously and is well on its way to becoming a Utah tradition.
