Team Care

When you or a loved one is diagnosed with cancer, you want to be certain those caring for you are experts in their fields. The staff at Intermountain Cancer Centers believes in the strength of a multidisciplinary team, which means that each specialist on our team consults with each other to decide on the best possible approach to your care.

Multidisciplinary Programs

As you begin treatment for cancer, experts from our multidisciplinary programs will counsel with you on your full range of treatment options. During a clinic visit you’ll meet with a surgeon, radiation oncologist, medical oncologist, nurse, social worker, dietitian, and other specialists. This is usually accomplished in one visit, which means you don’t have to come in for multiple appointments. At the end of the appointment, you’ll leave with a treatment plan and a schedule of any necessary appointments you need.

The following multidisciplinary clinics are available:

A physician referral isn’t necessary to attend a multidisciplinary program. Even if your cancer type isn’t listed above, we can most often offer an treatment plan for you. To set an appointment or get more details, please call 801-507-3900.

Cancer Care Conferences

Intermountain Cancer Centers hold regular cancer care conferences where cases are discussed. Our team includes surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, nurses, social workers, and many others. Physicians present cases and treatment recommendations are made with group input. These conferences are held three to four times per month. Ask your physician to present your case if you want to take advantage of the perspectives offered by our multidisciplinary team.

Patient Navigation

Making your way through the healthcare system with a complex diagnosis like cancer can be difficult. A trained healthcare professional is available to help you navigate through your cancer journey. They can provide reassurance and resources, answer your questions, and coordinate needed care. All cancer patients have access to our free patient navigation program.
