At Alta View Hospital, certified nurse midwives provide midwifery, family planning and gynecology services including menopause care. They treat women from adolescence to menopause based on the unique physical, social and spiritual needs of each woman. Their focus is on general wellness and supporting each patient’s choices.
Not just any midwife can provide care in our hospital. The Certified Nurse Midwives with permissions to operate at Alta View Hospital have all completed extensive training. All are highly-trained registered nurses who hold masters or doctorate degrees and have met national certification requirements, including a national board examination, and continue to learn more on a continual basis. They offer many different services, while still providing the personalized touch that midwives have always been known for.

All births take place in the hospital with physician consultation when necessary. Patients may choose pain-relieving medications, epidural anesthesia, or natural childbirth. We also provide postpartum and contraceptive care after delivery, including follow-up care.
GYNECOLOGY AND WOMEN’S HEALTHCARE
They also offer many women’s health and reproductive services for all ages, including:
- Yearly screening exams, including pap smears and breast exams
- Family planning and contraception services
- Menopause counseling and various options before hysterectomy
- Treatment of vaginal and bladder issues
Why choose a Midwife:
The modern-day certified nurse midwives pride themselves on providing personalized, holistic care. They provide longer appointment times than the average provider, with the hopes of getting to know patients on a more personal level. When a patient is in labor, they arrive earlier in the labor process to assist you through it while trying to give you the experience you and your family desire. If problems do arise that may require an instrument assisted or surgical birth, collaborating OB/GYNs will assist alongside the midwife to provide the safest delivery for you and your baby.
