Manual therapy is a hands-on treatment to decrease pain and improve joint mobility.
Modalities are used when appropriate to promote healing, relieve muscle spasms, reduce inflammation, and edema. Treatments include electrical stimulation, ultrasound, traction, heat and ice, and massage.
This treatment provides visual, auditory, or other stimulus for certain body functions so a person can learn to use these stimuli to exercise voluntary control over the function. It is necessary for re-education of specific muscle groups.
