At Bear River Valley Hospital our patients can get high quality emergency healthcare at any time of the day, every day of the week. All activity in our emergency department is overseen by board certified emergency physicians.

Our Providers

Our emergency room is staffed by a large team of qualified professionals. We currently have seven local physicians that treat patients in our emergency department. All are ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Life Support) trained. We also have two physician’s assistants and three nurse practitioners with the requisite training and certifications necessary to work in an emergency setting.

Nurses

With over 50 years of combined ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, our nursing staff is both experienced and knowledgeable. They are also required to maintain specific certifications such as ATLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum). Each member of our nursing team is dedicated to providing top notch emergency healthcare to our patients.

Specialized Teams

Our hospital takes a special teams approach to different emergency healthcare situations. We have a stroke receiving team that is staffed with providers who are trained to properly receive stroke victims. This team is made up of providers from our lab, radiology, emergency room, and patient care unit. Similarly our medical and trauma teams also have team members from the major departments of our hospital. The medical team primarily handles medical emergencies such as heart attacks and respiratory distress while our trauma team takes on major trauma emergencies. Our hospital also has a social worker on staff that responds to medical and trauma emergencies in order to support patients and their families during their time of stress.

Outreach

Our staff at the Bear River Valley Hospital feels it is important to promote and further excellence in trauma care. Every year, the Bear River Valley Hospital Emergency Department co-sponsors the Northern Utah Trauma System Conference in Logan, Utah. The conference is a one day event that features education courses about trauma treatment and injury prevention. The conference also helps to promote public awareness of the trauma system. Doctors, nurses, and other providers from our emergency room help to plan and present the conference. The conference is designed to help us reach out to other members of the emergency medicine community.
