What to Expect (Triage)

Four to eight minutes. That’s the average amount of time patients can expect to be waiting in our emergency room at Bear River Valley Hospital. Often, our ER wait is next to nothing. We have a “No Wait” policy and we take it seriously. From the second a patient comes through our doors, our highest priority is to make sure they get the care they need as soon as possible.

Our emergency department has a dedicated entrance for emergency patients. When you arrive, please ring the doorbell. A nurse will greet you at the door. After a preliminarily examination they will help you get registered and show you to a room. A nurse will take your vitals and get treatment started. One of our doctors will be notified of your arrival and you will be seen shortly thereafter.

The needs of every patient will vary, depending on their medical condition. The brief visual examination given by one of our nurses when you arrive in the emergency room determines the acuteness of your condition. Resuscitation, emergent, and urgent patients will receive care before non-urgent and semi-urgent patients in the waiting room.
