Cardiac rehabilitation gives patients the confidence they need to get moving after a heart attack or major heart surgery. At Bear River Valley Hospital, we know that being active and making healthy lifestyle changes will make you feel better and stay healthy for longer. Our Physical Therapy department provides rehabilitation for cardiac patients and patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Many of the patients undergoing cardiac rehabilitation in our clinic have had heart attacks, open heart surgery, or heart stints.
Our clinic provides continuous wireless telemetry for up to four patients at a time. This careful monitoring allows you to get moving with confidence that everything with your heart is working fine. Nurses monitor patients the entire time they are with us. Patients can start moving slowly and work up to a level of exercise that is good for their heart. As they work up to the right amount of exercise for their body, many patients experience better health, feel less depressed, lose weight, and have more energy.
Once cleared by a doctor, cardiac patients can move into Phase 3 and Phase 4 of Cardiac Rehabilitation. In these phases, patients are permitted to use the equipment in our department for a minimal out-of-pocket fee. We do not bill insurance for these visits. Our physical therapy facility gives our cardiac patients a safe and comfortable place to grow stronger independently at a low cost.
Cardiac rehabilitation has unlimited coverage by Medicare for patients with certain heart problems. In addition, most insurance companies cover cardiac rehabilitation. Those with COPD can also get up to 36 sessions covered by Medicare. Patients in cardiac rehabilitation at our clinic typically have sessions three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
