Whether you are typing or tying your shoe, your hands are an important part of your life. Accident, injury, chronic pain problems, and even neurological conditions can impair the normal use of your hands. Our physical therapists at Bear River Valley Hospital have the experience and training needed to help you get your hands moving again. In addition to helping your hands heal, our department does nerve connection testing for patients. Much of this testing is for patients who have carpal tunnel.
Patients who visit our Physical Therapy Department for their hands may suffer from any of the following:
- Neurological conditions (i.e. stroke)
- Amputations of fingers or hands
- Wounds and scars
- Injured tendons or nerves
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Tennis elbow
- Tendon release surgery
Many patients who have problems with their hands find that their hands stiffen because of injuries or pain. We use ultrasound, heat treatments, stretching, strengthening, and the use of basic splints to help increase the strength and ability of your hands and decrease the pain and stiffness. We help to manage acute and chronic pain, and do our best to education patients on the different things they can do at home to increase the dexterity and strength in their hands.
