The knee is the largest joint in the human body. Because the knee carries the weight of the body it can experience a lot of wear and tear. At Bear River Valley Hospital, we know that knee pain can affect anyone. Some problems with the knee are due to injury, others are due to things like arthritis. Either way, our physical therapists work with patients who suffer from knee pain and problems. Patients who visit our Physical Therapy Department for knee pain will undergo a detailed evaluation process. During this process we will test you muscle strength, coordination, and flexibility. Once we know what is causing your pain, we will work with you to establish a physical therapy program.

Patients visiting our clinic for knee problems may have any of the following conditions:

  • Arthritis
  • Surgery (total knee replacement)
  • Sprains and strains
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Ligament problems
  • Sports and overuse injuries
  • Osteoarthritis

Knee injuries take time and care to heal. Your treatment plan will depend on the type and severity of your knee injury. Age can also play a factor in your knee health. In all cases, our goal will be to increase your strength and normal motion. The physical therapists in our department do this in a variety of ways that can include gravity training, balance training, and exercise. Throughout the process we will teach you exercises and stretches that you can do at home to heal and prevent future injuries.
