Shoulder problems are among the most common injuries treated in the Physical Therapy Department at Bear River Valley Hospital. Patients can come for therapy here and feel confident that they will be seen by experienced professionals. In addition to injury recovery, our physical therapists often work with our orthopedic surgeons to provide care after a shoulder surgery. There are many different types of shoulder injuries. Some are the result of an industrial injury, other happen because of medical conditions.

Shoulder therapy may help any of the following conditions:

  • Rotator cuff strains
  • Rotator cuff repairs
  • Sports and industrial injuries
  • Shoulder surgery recovery
  • Tendonitis
  • Bursitis
  • Fractures

We use many different techniques for healing and strengthening the shoulder. In our department, patients will likely utilize a combination of exercises to strengthen and increase flexibility in the shoulder. Our physical therapists use ultrasound, massage, and heat/cold therapies to reduce swelling and pain. While the injury is healing it is important to keep moving the shoulder so it does not freeze up. After healing, strengthening exercises can be used. We educate each of our patients so they can continue specific exercises at home. This helps to prevent future injuries.
