Our doctors and staff at Bear River Valley Hospital have access to the best technology needed for treating and diagnosing patients. Computed Tomography (CT) scans, also sometimes called cat scans, are a part of this technology. CT scans are used in medical imaging to take cross-sectional x-ray images of internal organs, bones, blood vessels, and even soft tissue. Doctors often use CT scans to identify things like cancer, appendicitis, cardiovascular disease, and trauma in a patient.
Patients who come to Bear River Valley Hospital for a CT scan will find that our staff is friendly and experienced. Each CT scan is performed by a technologist that is licensed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). Because we have the best technology available, patients find that they are only in the actual procedure for about 5-10 minutes.
Although CT scans are generally very fast, some patients may need to come prepared for the procedure. We recommend that patients leave their jewelry at home, as metal objects can affect the scan. Some of our patients may also need to come fasting. If you have questions about how to prepare for your CT scan, talk to our staff when you call to schedule your appointment.
Scheduling a CT scan appointment at Bear River Valley Hospital is easy. Appointments can be made between 9am-5pm Monday through Friday. Scans can also be done through our emergency department 24/7.
