Preparing for Your Stay
- Pre-register - Your hospital stay begins before you ever enter the buidling. You will need to pre-register for your procedure with the scheduling staff of the department that will be performing your procedure. If you do not know the specific phone number to call for your procedure, please call (435) 251-1000.
- Insurance Information - You will be asked for information about your insurance. Have all your information ready to speed up the pre-registration process.

Filling out the Health History form in advance will ensure a smooth process when you arrive atthe hospital the day of your procedure.
- Bathe before coming to the hospital. Using soap and shampoo will help prevent infection. Be sure your hair is dry.
- Wear comfortable, loose clothing.
The following are a few good items to bring with you to the hospital. You should leave your personal items with a family member during your procedure.
- A list of all medications you are currently taking.
- Eyeglasses or contact lenses (if applicable)
- Cases for eyeglasses, contact lenses or hearing aids.
- Cash or credit card for the co-pay (depending on insurance) and post-surgical prescriptions.
- Photo ID
- Insurance card
- Medicare and/or Medicaid cards
- Living will, if you have one
If you are staying overnight
- A small bag to hold your personal toiletries and other personal items, such as comb, brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, etc.
What NOT to bring
Arrive well before your scheduled procedure to ensure you have plenty of time to fill out any necessary paperwork and make preparations for your procedure.
During Your Stay
All inpatient rooms are provate and include a private bathroom. Almost all rooms have a DVD player, so feel free to bring some movies from home to watch. Most rooms have a fold-away bed where a loved one can sleep overnight.
General visiting hours are 4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, but many areas will allow visitors at all times. Check with your nurse for unit-specific guidelines. The North main entrance of the River Road Campus is locked from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. and the South entrance is closed from midnight to 6 a.m. To visit after the doors are locked, go to the South entrance and check in with hospital security.
If you need someone to translate for you, including sign language for the deaf, call the hospital operator by dialing 0 or talk to your nurse.
Our Patient Relations team can help you with any part of your hospital care. We want to be sure you get courteous and timely care. If you have a complaint or grievance about the quality of your care, you or your family member can contact the immediate supervisor of the area by asking any caregiver.
If your concerns are not resolved, you or your family member may call Patient Relations at (435) 688-4300 or call (435) 251-2464 and ask to speak with the Administrator on call. To file a grievance with the State of Utah, call (800) 662-4157 or send a letter to the Utah Bureau of Health Facility Licensing, Certification and Resident Assessment, P.O. Box 144103, Salt Lake City, UT 84114-4103; or call the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations at (800) 994-6610.
We understand that your medical and health information is personal. Protecting your health information is important to us. We follow strict federal and state laws that require us to protect the privacy of your health information.
Intermountain is required by law to:
- maintain the privacy of your health information;
- provide this notice that explains the ways we may use and share your health information; and
- follow the terms of the notice currently in effect.
Our facility privacy coordinator can be reached by calling (435) 688-4300 to help with any question about the privacy of your health information. You may also call the Intermountain Privacy Office at (800) 442-4845 with any questions.
Smoking is prohibited in any Dixie Regional Medical Center facility in compliance with the Utah Indoor Clean Air Act. Our facility grounds and parking lots are also 100 percent tobacco free. Patients receiving care at Dixie Regional will not be allowed to smoke. Please ask your doctor about alternatives to smoking or how to quit smoking.
We have a chaplain on our staff and we work with local religious leaders to help meet the spiritual needs of patients and family members. If you or your family would like a member of the clergy to visit, or for more information about services, your nurse can help you. Spiritual leaders of all faiths are welcome to visit their members.
After Your Stay
Care managers & social workers are assigned to each patient and may visit you and your family members during your stay. They are available to assist with your special needs and insurance questions and to help coordinate your discharge from the hospital or transfer to another facility. Our social workers can also help with housing, transportation, and provide other assistance. Ask your nurse to help you contact them.
Depending on your procedure, it will likely take time for you to heal. Your medical team will discuss possible side effects with you and how to take care of yourself. Because your body need time to heal, try to take it easy for a few days. If you have any questions, contact your physician. Also, a patient satisfaction surveyor may contact you about your experience. Feel free to offer any comments or suggestions, as these help improve our service and quality of care for all patients.
Shortly after your hospital stay, we will send you a bill. If you have insurance, we will send a claim to your insurance company. Billing statements will be mailed until the account is paid in full. These statements will advise you of total charges, payments and balance due. Some statements may include a request for information. Please read the statements carefully and call Patient Account Services at (435) 251-2300 if you have questions or need more information.
Note: Many doctors who work in our hospital are not employed by Intermountain Healthcare. They may send you a separate bill for their services. These may include anesthesiologists, radiologists, emergency room doctors, surgeons, or other specialists. Please call their offices directly if you have questions about their bills.
