Emergency Department patients receive the highest quality care and prompt service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by emergency physician specialists and highly skilled nurses. Our emergency room wait times average less then 24 minutes, which is far below national averages.

Dixie Regional's Emergency Department is located on the River Road Campus and is covered by all physician specialties in the St. George area backed by a full-service hospital with a Clinical Decision Unit and Intensive Care Unit.

As an Intermountain system, Dixie Regional's Emergency Department is supported by the full range of Intermountain services and hospitals, including Life FlightIntermountain Medical Center, and Primary Children's Medical Center.

    Hyperbaric Medicine
    Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2) therapy is a unique treatment approach to certain infections, poisoning and complicated wounds.(435) 688-4293

    Palliative Care
    Palliative Medicine provides intensive interdisciplinary treatment of the pain and symptoms of serious illness. Its focus is on the person not just a specific disease.(435) 251-2448
    Life Flight
    Life Flight brings highly specialized emergency equipment and medical personnel to critically ill or injured patients in remote areas or accident scenes where time is of the essence. Starting January 2011, a Life Flight helicopter is based at Dixie Regional and serves all of southern Utah.
    Hospitalist Service

    Hospitalists are doctors whose primary professional focus is the general medical care of hospitalized patients. Their activities include patient care, teaching, research, leadership, and dedication to evidence-based quality improvement measures.

    Hospitalists also consult on and treat medical issues of patients referred by surgeons and medical subspecialties (neurology, cardiology, gastroenterology, psychiatry, etc.) during their hospitalization. In addition, hospitalists at Dixie Regional Medical Center care for patients traveling from outside the area, as well as patients who do not have a regular primary care physician.

    Intensive Care Unit
    Dixie Regional's adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides specialized medical care to patients with potentially life-threatening conditions.
    Immediate family members only are welcome to visit patients at any time, except 5:30 to 7 a.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m. for nursing report and care preparation.
    The ICU is located on Level 2 of the River Road Campus.

    Anyone needing urgent care can now call ahead to (435) 688-6388 and receive an arrival time at the River Road, Sunset or Hurricane Valley InstaCare clinics. Rather than starting your wait time when you arrive at the clinic, your wait time can now be spent in transit, or in the comfort of your home.

    What is InstaCare?

    Intermountain InstaCare clinics offer walk-in service for urgent — but not life-threatening — injuries and illnesses including sore throats, minor accidents,  broken bones, ear infections, and more. InstaCare clinics are a faster and less expensive alternative to your hospital’s emergency department.

    If you are experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, severe headache, dizziness, or if you have been in a car accident or have a head injury, call 911 immediately or go to your nearest emergency room.
