An aneurysm is a balloon-like bulge in an artery. An aneurysm that occurs in the part of the aorta that's in the chest is called a thoracic aortic aneurysm. An aneurysm that occurs in the part of the aorta that's in the abdomen is called an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
