Our bodies can be divided into two main components — fat and lean mass. We need some fat to ensure good health, but excess body fat can increase the risk of diseases like diabetes, cancer and heart disease. Lean mass (mostly muscle) takes up less space and burns calories more efficiently. Understanding the needs of your body and the proper balance between lean mass and fat is essential for optimal health and fitness. That is why it’s better to measure your body composition rather than weight. A scale can’t tell the difference between a pound of muscle and a pound of fat.
The BOD POD
We use the BOD POD Body Composition Tracking System — the Practical Gold Standard — to measure body composition. You simply wear a tight-fitting swim suit and sit comfortably in the egg-shaped machine for some quick measurements. The analysis will determine your:
- Certified body weight
- Body fat percentage
- Total lean body mass
- Resting metabolic rate
- Total energy expenditure
As part of your visit, we will also review the results of your BOD POD analysis with you and offer recommendations. The analysis is most beneficial if you come back periodically to test your progress and track the effectiveness of your exercise and nutritional practices. We can help you continue to make adjustments in your routine, enabling you to reach your optimal health.
- $40 for one visit
- $60 for two visits
- $160 for six visits
*The six visit package can be shared with three other people.
