VO2 Max Aerobic Fitness Assessment
VO2 max, or maximal oxygen uptake, is the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize during intense or maximal exercise. This measurement is generally considered the best indicator of an athlete’s cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance. The more oxygen you can use during high level exercise, the more energy you can produce.
How is VO2 Max measured?
To measure your VO2 max, you’ll need to breathe through a special mask during a short workout on a treadmill or bicycle. Our specialized equipment will measure the amount of oxygen your body is using at different exertion levels while you exercise. The recorded information is then used to calculate:
- The specific heart rate your body needs for each level of exercise intensity
- Your body’s peak oxygen consumption
- Your anaerobic threshold (the point at which lactic acid starts to accumulate in your muscles)
- The amount of calories your body burns at different heart rates
With these results, our staff can help you customize a workout based on your unique level of fitness, resulting in fewer injuries, less fatigue, less pain and rapid results.
