Inpatient Pediatric Unit
Dixie Regional Medical Center’s newly redecorated pediatric unit, located on the fourth floor of the 400 East Campus, features child friendly décor and pediatric-focused specialized nursing care. The unit also entertains young patients in a play room, which is carefully maintained for infection control issues. A parents’ lounge and designated treatment room facilitates the needs of families and patients. Special trained care-pets visit the unit often to help cheer up young patients. Access to the unit is restricted to keep these vulnerable patients safe. Check out our visiting policy for more information. To learn more, call (435) 688-4340.
A childlife specialist is engaged in helping staff better understand and work with your child’s individual needs. A childlife specialist is a person who has been trained in the developmental stages of a child’s life and the best ways to help children cope with the stress of hospitalization and health-related challenges. Some of the techniques used by childlife include play, distraction therapy, and role-playing to decrease a potentially traumatic situation and improve the hospital experience.
