Four Hub Facilities
The Intermountain Healthcare Pharmacy Practice residency is based out of four hub facilities. While the residents have their initial training at their hub facility, rotations are available throughout the system.
Intermountain Medical Center
Intermountain Medical Center is one of the largest hospitals in the Intermountain West and the new flagship of Intermountain Healthcare. It is a major adult referral center for six surrounding states and more than 75 regional healthcare institutions.
The campus is made up of 5 specialty hospitals, a central laboratory, a physical plant, and an education center. The specialty hospitals provide a full spectrum of care for patients and families.
Medical education and research facilities are on campus. Intermountain Medical Center serves as a major teaching hospital for area medical, pharmacy, and nursing colleges.
Primary Children's Medical Center
Founded on the philosophy of "the child first and always," Primary Children's Medical Center is the pediatric referral center for five states in the Intermountain West, the largest geographical service area of any children's hospital in the U.S. It is a 242-bed facility equipped to care for children and adolescents of all ages with complex illnesses and injuries.
PCMC is associated with the University of Utah School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, enabling patients and staff to benefit from the research and clinical expertise of its faculty.
Utah Valley Regional Medical Center
Founded in 1939 and located approximately 40 miles south of Salt Lake City, UVRMC has become a 390-bed referral health care facility serving Utah County, and central and southern Utah.
Providing health care to patients from both rural and urban areas provides for a diverse pharmacy practice, and offers unique challenges to the student and professional.
Pharmacy services cover specialty areas commonly found in medium to large health care facilities; however, significant emphasis is also placed on family practice, cardiology, and newborn intensive care.
McKay-Dee Hospital Center
McKay-Dee Hospital Center is a 296-bed, full-service, tertiary and acute care referral center. With 10 affiliated clinics, McKay-Dee serves northern Utah, and portions of southeast Idaho.
McKay-Dee offers nationally-ranked health programs such as the Heart Institute, the Newborn ICU and the newest addition the Cancer Center. Other centers of excellence include: Emergency and Level II Trauma Care, Critical Care, Women and Children's Services, Stewart Rehabilitation Center, Behavioral Medicine and the Community Health Information Center.
Salt Lake City
The metropolitan area has a population of approximately 1.5 million people and offers cultural and sporting events including ballet, opera, symphony, theater, and various professional and collegiate sports.
Salt Lake City is located at the base of the Wasatch Front of the Rocky Mountains and boasts access to nine major ski resorts within 40 miles of the downtown district. The climate provides opportunity for four season recreation.
