For the past 16 years, Intermountain's Utah Artificial Heart Program has been one of the most active centers in the country and is a national leader in extending lives, conducting research and testing experimental devices that are now being used around the world.

 

We are an experienced, high volume, imaging service. Our committed team works seamlessly with various specialists and surgeons across our hospital system to diagnose patients in all stages of heart disease.

 

Our Cardiac Catheterization laboratory has had the highest volumes, providing care to the most complex patients in the state of Utah.

 

We offer medically supervised programs specifically designed for patients recovering from heart conditions and heart surgery. Our certified rehab therapists customize programs for each individual patient and offer a caring and safe environment that promotes well-being, health and appropriate exercise.

 

The Heart Failure Prevention and Treatment Program provides comprehensive care to patients in all stages of the heart failure continuum, from prevention to end-stage disease.

 

The Heart Rhythm Program at Intermountain Medical Center sits at the forefront of advances in therapies for heart arrhythmia disorders. Historically, we have been the first in the Intermountain West to offer the latest in arrhythmia technologies, and we are one of the most experienced centers in the nation with the highest volumes.

 

There is no heart surgery that is clinically available in the United States that isn’t offered here at Intermountain Medical Center – along with excellent outcomes. Our program has the highest volume of heart surgeries in the State by a wide margin, meaning our surgeons and staff have an invaluable amount of experience that cannot be matched by any other center in the Intermountain region.

 

The U.T.A.H. (Utah Transplantation Affiliated Hospitals) Cardiac Transplant Program is one of the most successful cooperative heart transplant programs in the nation. The Program serves as a model for other transplant programs through its efficiency and clinical outcomes, having achieved some of the highest survival rates in the nation.

 

Research is an integral part of our clinical service that allows us to improve outcomes, determine best medical practice, and provide the most advanced therapies to our patients. We have developed a national reputation for conducting quality research and developing innovative approaches to improving healthcare delivery.

 

The Structural Heart Disease (SHD) Program addresses disorders of the heart with minimally invasive methods. We are actively researching alternatives to open heart surgery for conditions such as aortic stenosis and mitral regurgitation.
