Beginning with one kidney transplant in 1983, the Intermountain Transplant Center's kidney transplant program has grown into a well-respected transplant program that performs over 70 kidney transplants every year, while keeping waiting list times lower and patient and graft survival rates higher than the national average.
Intermountain Transplant Center's liver transplant program began in 1986 as only the 14th center in America and the 2nd center in the West. Since the inception of our liver program we have performed over 700 liver transplants from both deceased and living donors while keeping graft and patient survival rates above the national average.
In 1986, the Intermountain Transplant Center became the first pancreas transplant program in the Western United States. Since the inception of our pancreas program we have performed over 230 pancreas transplants, including combined kidney/pancreas transplants and pancreas only transplants. Pancreas transplants can offer improved quality of life for those with Type I Diabetes.
The U.T.A.H. (Utah Transplantation Affiliated Hospitals) Cardiac Transplant Program is one of the most successful cooperative heart transplant programs in the nation. The Program serves as a model for other transplant programs through its efficiency and clinical outcomes, having achieved some of the highest survival rates in the nation.
Bone marrow transplantation, also known as blood and marrow transplantation, has evolved over the past 20 years into a successful therapy for a variety of malignant and non-malignant diseases. Bone marrow transplantation allows for safer use of radiation and/or combination chemotherapy to help cure many types of diseases that in the past would have not been curable.
