The Transitional Year is designed for residents who desire a broad clinical experience to prepare them for a career in a specialty field.

Specialties that may require a first year of training include anesthesiology, radiology, radiation oncology, ophthalmology, dermatology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and emergency medicine.
