Other Members of the Team
It takes more than a skilled surgeon to get you back on your feet. Here are some other members of our excellent team of caregivers.
Case Managers
This group will work to ensure that each patient has the support he or she needs once they leave the hospital. Case mangers may work with outside agencies to arrange for help at home, ensure that the right supplies and equipment are available at home, line up follow-up appointments, and help with insurance questions.
Skilled Nurses
Our nurses are committed to treating each patient as an individual, with unique concerns and needs. We ask what’s important to each person during his or her treatment, and work to ensure those needs are met. Our nurses have specialized training in orthopedic care, and are especially alert to a patient’s pain and safety concerns.
Pharmacists
A pharmacist will explain each person’s medications, how they work, how they may affect other medications, and answer any questions. We also have a program that will deliver medications to patient rooms before discharge, so there’s no waiting at a pharmacy.
Social Workers
These team members will coordinate follow-up care, including in-home help, lab work, special adaptive equipment, transportation needs, and making sure patients return to visit their surgeons for progress exams.
Rehabilitation Specialists
This group will work to ensure every patient has support at home, including adaptive equipment and home health assistance. We can even arrange discharge to another facility that can provide more support if a return to home is not immediately possible.
