Michael A. Clark, Logan Regional Hospital chief executive officer, announced today the appointment of R. Troy Oldham as the new Logan Regional Hospital director of Communications and director of the Logan Regional Hospital Foundation. Oldham will transition to his new role during the month of April.

“I am very excited to have Troy Oldham join Logan Regional Hospital's administrative management team,” said Clark. “He brings with him a breadth of experience in public relations and community involvement. Troy is a great addition and will help us continue on the path started by his predecessors.” Previously, the director position was held by Douglas E. Thompson, who retired in January.

Oldham has more than 20 years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, and business management. From 2003 until 2009, he served as a lecturer and faculty member of the Department of Communications at Utah State University. Over the past two years, Oldham has served as the executive director of marketing and branding for the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University. Oldham has been a driving force behind building the brand of the college to be recognized as a top-tier business college. As a university lecturer, he has taught reality-based capstone courses pairing business clients with student teams to develop comprehensive public relations and marketing strategies. Oldham has earned several awards as a USU faculty member.

Prior to Utah State University, Oldham spent 11 years working for Microsoft Corporation in sales, marketing, and management positions in the United States and overseas.

“I am thrilled to work with the team at Logan Regional Hospital,” said Oldham. “The medical staff, administration, and foundation representatives are the best anywhere, and they are our neighbors, friends, and community leaders. I look forward to sharing our many positive stories as we work with the community to further expand the value the hospital contributes to our valley.”

A Logan native, Oldham attended Logan High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications at Utah State University. He then completed a master’s degree in international management from the American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird Campus, in Glendale, Arizona.
Oldham is actively involved in the Cache Valley community. He recently served as a board member of the Beaver Mountain Ski Patrol and is currently an outdoor emergency care instructor with the National Ski Patrol. He also serves as a director of the USU Alumni Executive Council. In addition, Oldham has managed multiple student teams leading public relations and marketing events in the community, including Ryan’s Place Park, Adventure Playground, and ABC Television’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

Oldham participates in a range of adventure sports, from skiing and snowboarding to mountain and road biking. He also enjoys windsurfing, snow and water kiting, and scuba diving around the world. Oldham said his biggest thrill comes from spending time with his wife, Anita, and their four children. He and his family live in North Logan.
