“This Cancer Center has been such a blessing for me,” said Susan Hancy of Millville and mother of two daughters. “It has been an oasis in my sea of cancer nightmares. I can’t even explain how wonderful it has been to have this center here close to home. The care is fantastic. The staff is so cheerful and extend kindness and concern. They have become my friends. I can’t say enough about them.”

Each year, more than 300 Cache Valley residents are diagnosed with cancer, and approximately 40 percent of those patients require radiation oncology therapy. Because of this, the Foundation felt that it was important to bring cancer services to Cache Valley.

  • By having cancer services in Cache Valley, 776,970 miles – 17,266 trips – were saved because patients no longer had to travel to Ogden to receive care.
  • Since opening in 2008, 376 patients have been seen at the Huntsman-Intermountain Cancer Center, where 8,633 radiation therapy treatments have taken place.
  • Community members donated $1.2 million with an additional $956,000 grant from the United States Department of Energy to build the Huntsman-Intermountain Cancer Center.

The Logan Regional Hospital Huntsman-Intermountain Cancer Center is part of an alliance combining Intermountain Healthcare’s clinical excellence and expertise with Huntsman Cancer Institute’s research capabilities.

"We have the concentrated services of Intermountain Healthcare combined with the power of the Huntsman Cancer Institute’s research model, brought together to treat cancer close to home in our community. The potential good by having great medical institutions joined together in collaboration to conquer cancer is truly remarkable." - Paul Wieght, director of Cancer Services at Logan Regional and McKay-Dee

The support group meets on Tuesdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Huntsman-Intermountain Cancer Education Center at the Logan Regional Hospital Cancer Center. The cancer support group is designed to provide guidance, education materials, a safe haven, and a place to meet others in similar situations.
