Our Cancer Registry fully complies with the National Cancer Database for record keeping and reporting. Every record in the hospital is reported. This is now a federal requirement, but Logan Regional Hospital has been tracking cancer data for several decades. As a reportable disease, cancer data is tracked in every Commission-Accredited cancer program throughout the United States. The cancer center reports statistics about each case.
Information such as patient demographics, type of cancer, duration, treatment success and survivorship are all reported to the National Cancer Database. The National Cancer Institute (www.cancer.gov) uses this data for its reports and findings. These reports help start clinical trials, allocate funding and detect previously unknown risk factors.
All personal patient information is kept confidential and is not available for public access. The cancer registry focuses only on information that will help physicians and research programs throughout the nation gather data and keep accurate records.
