Hospitalist Service
Logan Regional Hospital’s patient care team includes physician specialists known as hospitalists. A hospitalist is a physician whose primary professional focus is the general medical care of hospitalized patients. Their activities include patient care, teaching and leadership related to hospital care.
A patient can be referred to hospitalists by his or her personal physician for treatment during hospitalization and then returned to the care of his or her personal physician after discharge from the hospital. Hospitalists also consult on and treat medical issues of patients referred by surgeons and other medical subspecialties during their hospitalization. In addition, hospitalists care for patients traveling from outside the area, as well as for patients who do not have a regular personal physician.
