The Pediatric Inpatient Unit’s purpose is to provide assessment of a child or adolescent’s mental health needs, stabilize their condition, provide education and information regarding diagnosis for family members, and provide referrals for the appropriate level of care after discharge. A child/adolescent is evaluated in the emergency department by a mental health worker to determine appropriateness for admission.
Upon admission to the Pediatric Inpatient Unit, your child will participate in a comprehensive evaluation process, which includes:
- Psychiatric Evaluation
- Physical Examination
- Psychological Testing, when indicated
- Laboratory testing
- Psychosocial evaluations
- Social, nursing, and activities assessment
Our goal is to help your child gain the maximum benefit from their hospitalization.
