Dennis J. Staker, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist who provides psychotherapeutic services to individual adults, couples, and groups. Although his psychotherapy practice is now confined primarily to adults, he provides psychological and neuropsychological assessment for adults, adolescents, and children over the age of eight. Areas of therapeutic expertise include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, depression, post-traumatic stress, and men’s issues.
Dr. Staker received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from San Francisco State University and his Doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology at Berkeley. He returned to Utah in 2002 after more than 20 years with the Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in Sonoma County, California where he served as Chief Psychologist. His background includes work in criminal justice and forensics, individual and group psychotherapy for adults and children, psychological consultation to schools, supervision of post-doctoral residents, and clinical neuropsychology. He has been with Intermountain Healthcare since 2002, having worked for 4 years as a staff psychologist at Alta View Center for Counseling in the Salt lake Valley prior to coming to McKay-Dee Behavioral Health Institute.
