The design is simple: Comfortable, peaceful surroundings contribute to patients’ healing
The old school of thought is that bricks, mortar, carpet, and paint don’t contribute to a patient’s healing process. However, we disagree, and believe that healthcare is really about providing two things: Excellent care and a healing environment for recovering patients and their loved ones. Park City Medical Center provides both.
The hospital’s healing environment is obvious when you enter the building. Here are some of the soothing touches you’ll notice:
- Natural, local stone and timber
- An open and airy reception area
- Comfortable furnishings situated around gas fireplaces
- Warm, soothing tones and textures throughout the facility
- Private and spacious patient rooms
- Expansive windows with mountain views in each room
- Pullout beds in each patient room for loved ones
- Private bathrooms in all patient rooms
- Wireless high-speed Internet access throughout the facility
- Individual pagers patients can carry with them, which allows them to relax throughout the facility and be immediately notified when they’re needed
The idea behind our design is simple: Comfortable, peaceful surroundings contribute to the healing process. The Center for Health Design lists more than 600 studies that link hospital design to medical outcomes, such as the amount of natural light patients have access to during their stay, whether a patient’s sleep is interrupted by intercom announcements and pagers, and a patient’s views of nature.
Park City Medical Center has taken these principles to heart. Having state-of-the art equipment and technology and being part of one of the nation’s best healthcare systems is fundamental to what we do. But, what we’re about is being a place where people come to heal.
