Our Staff

Vanessa Brown Laurella Ph.D., RN Nurse Administrator, Educator, ProHealth Lab Director and Preventative Health Advocate

As the director of ProHealth Lab at Park City Medical Center, Vanessa works with patients to help them reach their optimal health. While she oversees the nutritional counseling and fitness coaching, the ProHealth Lab program is more than diet and exercise. It's about living well and being healthy. It's about preventing diseases, helping clients get off costly prescriptions and taking a more proactive, preventive approach to their wellness.

Some of her accomplishments include starting one of the first National Nurse Residency Programs in the State of Utah; develop and administrate the first online nursing program for associate degree nurses at the University of Utah College of Nursing; Director of the College of Nursing¹s Graduate Nurse Administration program and development of clinical programs at University Hospital.  Her research and scholarly activities have been centered around leadership and administrative/management processes to enhance service efficiency and reducing waste. Vanessa is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Utah, College of Nursing and faculty member for 26 years. Vanessa's focus in clinical service and as a consultant health advocate for independent clients has always centered on holistic care and health prevention.

Jon-David Ethington, PA, Physician Assistant

Jon-David Ethington is a certified Physician Assistant with a Master of Health Sciences degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. Jon-David grew up in Utah and graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science. In 2003, he received the Outstanding Undergraduate Student award.

Jon-David decided to pursue a career in health care after a back injury in 1997. From the care he received as a patient at that time, he gained an enthusiasm for health that led to a certification as a personal trainer in 1999, and he assisted with patient rehab in a physical therapy practice.

Upon graduation from the Physician Assistant program at Drexel University, Jon-David was awarded the Benjamin Eskin Memorial Award and spent the beginning of his career as a physician assistant in Family Medicine. He continued to gain a knowledge and appreciation for the importance of a healthy lifestyle in preventing disease. He has extensive knowledge of cardiovascular disease risk management and prevention.

Dr. Wain Allen

Dr. Wain Allen is the supervising physician for Pro Health Lab at Park City Medical Center.

He is a graduate of the University of Utah, BA Cum Laude in Chemistry. He received his medical degree from George Washington University Medical School and completed his residency in Family Medicine at DeWitt Army Hospital in Virginia.

Dr. Allen has been in private practice in Coalville and Kamas since 1984 and currently holds staff privileges at Park City Medical Center, Heber Valley Medical Center, McKay Dee Hospital, Primary Children's Medical Center, University of Utah Hospital and Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. He served as the first Medical Staff President at Park City Medical Center and is currently the Chief Medical Officer for the same facility.

Ivan Mitchell

Ivan is the manger of Imaging Services at Park City Medical Center. He holds a masters degree in Health Care and Public Administration, and a BS in Nuclear Medicine.

Ivan's imaging team provides ProHealth Lab patients with preventative screening exams such as an Ultrasound for Carotid Intima Media Thickness (CIMT), diagnostic x-rays, and any other imaging service your Pro Health Lab provider determines is helpful to reach your potential.

Jan Worsley-Cendese

Jan is a Professional Health and Wellness Coach as well as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Massage Therapist. She has been in private practice for the past 37 years in the Salt Lake Valley and works primarily with adults in a holistic approach to problem solving and creative living. In her years of experience, she has developed a myriad of techniques that she uses to assist people in designing a full and satisfying life for themselves. She is a compelling and knowledgeable teacher, mentor and change agent.

Chef Jason Kieffer

From coast to coast, Chef Jason Kieffer has pleased the palates from super models to athletic legends. His resume includes Executive Chef at Google, Vegetarian Executive Chef at Microsoft World Headquarters, and Private Chef to a billionaire. He wasn't too far into his career when Chef Kieffer realized that there was so much more to food and health and soon began a journey towards a naturopathic approach to cooking. Chef Jason is a student of the acclaimed Culinary Institute of America and disciple of Ayurveda and naturopathic traditions and enjoys sharing is love and knowledge of food with ProHealth Lab clients.

Liz Bynan

Liz attended undergraduate school at Texas Tech University where she received a BS in Dietetics and Nutrition. She then earned her MS in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Currently, Liz is the Clinical Dietitian at Park City Medical Center and recently received her certification in weight management. She has worked with diverse clientele in managing issues such as weight management, sports nutrition, kidney disease, and parenteral and enteral nutrition. Liz is an endurance runner who has qualified for the Boston Marathon and she enjoys mountain biking and road cycling.

Rusty Newsom

Rusty Newsom is the laboratory manager at Park City Medical Center. He has an MBA from University of Phoenix and is a Certified Medical Technologist through ASCP. He has been a Medical Technologist for the past 25 year with Intermountain Healthcare.

The Park City Medical Center laboratory is a full-service lab. Many tests are performed onsite and additional testing is sent to various reference laboratories. Each member of the lab staff is a certified technologist and takes pride in performing tests accurately and efficiently to serve the community.
