18th Utah Conference on Congenital Cardiovascular Disease
February 21– 24, 2010
Snowbird, Utah
Conference Brochure
During the four-day conference, local and national faculty will address topics across a broad clinical spectrum of pediatric cardiovascular problems and diseases.
Outcomes in neonates with heart disease will be explored in terms of pre-operative imaging, current surgical techniques, ventilation strategies, and methods of neuroprotection. Novel approaches to the treatment of structural heart disease will include presentations on perventricular VSD closure, transcatheter interventions, and advances in the invasive treatment of rhythm disorders. Presentations will cover state-of-the-art updates on thrombosis treatment and prevention, the impact of fetal diagnosis of congenital heart disease, advances in pediatric heart transplantation, the relationship between strokes and migraine headaches in pediatric patients with a patent foramen ovale, and neuropsychological problems in children with heart disease. Controversies and later outcomes associated with single ventricle palliation will also be examined. Research related to the genetics of arrhythmias, the relationship between genotype and phenotype, advances in animal models of cardiovascular malformations, and the science and practice of preventing congenital heart disease will also be presented.
